Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Agrocolor is one of the leading companies in agri food certification and auditing. The first to recognize GLOBALG.A.P. certification in Spain, Agrocolor is marking over two decades of work in the sector by engaging with key stakeholders through the 2023 TOUR stop – advancing tools for producers that enable them to perform successfully in agricultural markets.

Coexphal is the Association of Fruit and Vegetable Producer Organizations of Almería, representing 70% of horticultural production in solar greenhouses in Spain. The association fosters food quality and safety as a decisive way to maintain competitiveness and the confidence of agricultural markets. In the current global context, Coexphal is seeking to analyze and address the key issues of food safety and sustainability with industry experts.

Almería, un ejemplo para el mundo en la aplicación de certificaciones Global GAP

With the world’s largest concentration of solar greenhouses, Almería represents a successful model of sustainable agricultural production from an environmental, social, and economic perspective. There are over 33,000 hectares of covered crops in the region, producing more than 3,500,000 tons of fresh fruit and vegetables every year. More than 14,000 family-owned farms operate in the area, grouping themselves into cooperatives and commercial companies. These enterprises employ more than 60,000 people of 150 nationalities.

The regional sector is characterized by demanding quality standards and a strong commitment to innovation. It has consistently reduced both its environmental impact and the number of necessary procedures through approaches such as biological controls and water efficiency.

The 2023 TOUR stop will bring together a wide range of producers, retailers, wholesalers, quality technicians, distribution chains, professional organizations, institutional representatives, and NGOs. Key topics will include the sustainable production model employed in Almería’s solar greenhouses, version 6 of GLOBALG.A.P.’s flagship Integrated Farm Assurance standard, as well as exploring sustainability certification in the EU market.

The two-day event will feature presentations, roundtable discussions, and a visit to a working solar greenhouse operation.
