It’s been a long, unprecedented journey of a sad, debilitating virus that we now realize has many mutations and variants.
\nBeginning as what is commonly known as \u00abCOVID-19\u00bb,\u00a0 the virus has\u00a0as we all realize now, taken many lives, hampered others, generally wrought\u00a0havoc worldwide, and\u00a0caused\u00a0economic upheaval due to efforts to slow the spread throughout populations around the world.<\/p>\n
Having had the honor of hosting the biannual \u00abInternational Pepper conference 2020\u00bb (IPC), as a team of coordinators, we chose to postpone\u00a0the originally scheduled conference in\u00a0September 2020.\u00a0 We still face\u00a0COVID-19 challenges\u00a0but we have decided, along with the help of our team, Dr. Stephanie Walker (New Mexico State University), Dr. Randy Norton (University of Arizona), Dr. Jeff Silvertooth (University of Arizona), Joshua Sherman (University of Arizona), Dr. Ben Villalon, (Texas A&M), and Dr.\u00a0Terry Berke (Curry Seed and Chile Co.), to move forward with the conference in 2022.\u00a0 We are excited to announce conference\u00a0dates of September 26, 27, and 28, 2022.<\/p>\n
We will host a welcome evening on September 26, 2022, at the University Marriott in Tucson, Arizona.\u00a0 On September 27, a hands-on agronomy\/practical breeding field day will be conducted with presentations in actual field settings at the Curry Farms facilities in Pearce Arizona.\u00a0 On September 28, abstract presentations will be held in Tucson, at the University Marriott.<\/p>\n
We are honored and excited to host this long-standing science-based event directed solely for the purpose of dissemination of current research on peppers from around the world.<\/p>\n
As was originally planned in 2020, a series of trial\u00a0blocks will be established as part of the IPC 2022.\u00a0 Our goal is to encourage seed companies, universities, and\u00a0other entities to\u00a0display\u00a0any variety of pepper (new or old)\u00a0in the IPC\u00a0trial blocks.\u00a0 To accomplish this goal we respectfully request any interested organizations to submit\u00a0seed by\u00a0April 1, 2022,\u00a0<\/strong>to the address below.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Trial blocks will be grown at Curry Farms facilities (4250 ft elevation) in\u00a0Pearce\u00a0(Southeastern Arizona).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" It’s been a long, unprecedented journey of a sad, debilitating virus that we now realize has many mutations and variants.
